Kombucha is a sparkling, fermented tea that is full of living probiotics (‘good’ bacteria), organic acids and vitamins. Kombucha begins as a sugar-tea solution before a living culture of bacteria and yeast, commonly known as a “SCOBY” (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) transforms our wholesome ingredients through an ancient fermentation process to create a naturally potent, refreshing health drink.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How do you pronounce this word?
The correct pronunciation is KOM-BOO-CHA!
- What is the difference between MOJO Classic and MOJO Crafted Kombucha?
MOJO Crafted Kombucha was developed for consumers interested in taking advantage of the health benefits of kombucha but found the fermented notes of traditional recipes too bold. Less sugar is used in the fermentation process of Crafted, resulting in smoother, lighter refreshment – it’s the perfect introduction to kombucha. MOJO Classic Kombucha is our original range. It is much more true to home brew recipe with a gutsy, potent taste. Crafted has all the same health benefits as our Classic range and the added bonus of meeting the low sugar standard.
- Is Kombucha safe to give to children, or to consume while pregnant or breastfeeding?
As stated on the bottles of our MOJO Classic and MOJO Crafted Kombucha, there are trace elements of alcohol present as a residual of the fermentation process. We monitor our kombucha religiously, to ensure we are within all state and national legislated standards of alcohol limits. If you have any concerns, we advise you to seek the advice of your health professional.
- How much caffeine is in MOJO Kombucha?
The organic tea in our kombucha naturally has caffeine, much of which is fermented out of the product. There is 5mg of caffeine per 100mL of kombucha – so approximately 16.5mg per bottle.
- Where is MOJO made?
In our Quality tested facilities in Willunga, South Australia.
- Are there any preservatives?
MOJO beverages are completely free from any additives, preservatives or artificial sweeteners.
- What are the sodium levels?
5.3mg per 100ml on average.
- There are bits in the bottle, what is this?
These bits are the proof that our product is living. They are healthy strands of Kombucha and other goodness, and they are to be enjoyed as part of the drink – they are the healthy bits! Roll the bottle gently to mix them in.
- How long does it keep for?
Once opened, we recommend 2 days in the fridge (that’s if you don’t drink it all at once)! From production unopened MOJO has a 7 month shelf life.
- Why does the sugar content vary so much between different brands of Kombucha?
Kombucha is a fermented elixir, and yes there is sugar added at the start of the process. Most of the sugar is consumed by the living kombucha culture and we do not add any sugar after fermentation. Sugar is required for kombucha to be effective – the cultures thrive off the sugar to create the organic acids, enzymes and b-vitamins that make kombucha such a powerhouse of goodness. We have spent over ten years refining, living and breathing the recipe for our MOJO, and we are confident we have the struck the balance between healthy goodness and a refreshing drink. Our beverages boast true probiotic potency with nothing added, because our gutsy taste and finish on the palette is achieved through a natural process. We do not want to dilute our product to reduce its impact or ingredients numbers, and then beef it up with sweeteners to make it have a ‘pleasant’ taste. We also do not water down our product to achieve low figures on our food labels, as we believe you are paying for a premium health product. Finally, our different MOJO Kombucha varieties are made with real fruits (and yes, fruit contains sugar!) so there are some differences in sugar content between our varieties.
- What do you mean about living food?
It means that the product has not been homogenised, pasteurised, microwaved, sterilised or synthesised. It is just as nature intended.
- Why does my MOJO need to be refrigerated at all times?
To help lock in the freshness of our MOJO, to keep the healthy yeast and bacteria happy and to stop it fermenting any further – remember it is a living product! Kombucha should never be found ambient on the shelf.
- It tastes a little bit like apple cider, is this normal?
Yes, that is the naturally occurring fermented notes and the organic lactic and acetic acids you can taste.
- This bottle of MOJO is a little flatter/fizzier/pulpier than my last, is this normal?
Yes, each bottle of our Kombucha is a little different to the next because it is a small batch brewed, hand crafted and living product – no two MOJOs are the same! We add real fruit and ingredients in our Kombucha, which may also mean that a little more or less pulpy. The amount of pulp will also affect the fizz slightly. However, if you have any questions or queries about your MOJO, please don’t hesitate to contact our team!
