Surrender the straw
We’re starting a war on straws!
This World Environment Day, we’re looking beyond our business to see what we can do to help create positive change, kickstarting a brand new environmental initiative, the MOJO Straw Amnesty, in an effort to reduce plastic straw waste.
We’re asking our stockists to ‘surrender’ their plastic straw packs and receive a reward of free case of MOJO product in return.
This comes at a time when the European Commission has urged a reduction in the use of single-use plastics, tabling a report on 28 May outlining plastics’ “toxic” and “harmful” impacts.
“Single-use plastic straws are a blight on the environment and an unnecessary waste,” MOJO Director of Sales and Marketing Andrew Buttery said. “Around the world, businesses are recognising that there has to be a better way.
“At MOJO, environmental policies are at the heart of our business and touch everything we do. We want to be a part of positive change for this planet, and we recognise that part of this is to encourage our stockists to move to a better environmental option than plastic straws.
“Reducing straw waste is something MOJO believes in passionately. We already have a zero-waste to landfill production facility, we bottle only in fully recyclable glass and we’ve been shifting our printing, where possible, to soy or vegetable-based inks and 100% recycled paper – and we’re determined to do even more for the environment.”
As part of the pilot program, MOJO stockists have until the end of June 2018 to register for the Straw Amnesty. The reward of one case of MOJO beverages will be delivered to the first 100 who apply, and the Straw Amnesty may be expanded in the future based on outcomes.
If you’re buying or drinking a MOJO, help us #BeatPlasticPollution by saying no to a disposable plastic straw!
