Dietitian Dr Joanna McMillan believes that healthy habits are largely about routine, and so the way you start your day is really important.
Dr Jo’s personal morning ritual involves a cup of coffee and a healthy breakfast – something that’s nutritious and packed full of probiotics and prebiotics, such as her Kickstarter Smoothie or Berry Bircher. These recipes are not only delicious and nutritious, but super quick and easy to make, so there’s no excuses for skipping the most important meal of the day!
We find that a morning ritual helps to influence the tone and structure for the rest of our day. It allows us the opportunity to more easily incorporate long term healthy habits, such as stopping to eat and enjoy our meals, having nutritious snacks on hand and moving our bodies when we can.
